Heating Basics

5 Types of Heating Systems:

  • Forced Air Systems - most commonly found in residential homes and requires frequent filter changes

  • Electric Systems - are installed as, baseboards, built-in fans and panels mounted to the wall. These systems warm the surrounding air to heat a room

  • Radiant Heat Systems - installed in the floor, wall and ceiling mount

  • Steam Radiant Heat Systems - these are found in older homes and commercial buildings. Steam radiators connect to a boiler to heat up water

  • Geothermal Systems - generally expensive to install (up to $20,000) with long term future savings. Geothermal Systems can have seismic restrictions for earthquake zones.
